Weaving braids for long hair. Hairstyles for girls to school, Greek, voluminous, French braids

All girls remember from childhood that braids are the most comfortable hairstyles for long hair. It seems that it is difficult to weave them, but once you master a few basic weaves, there are endless possibilities for creating original hairstyles.

Braiding technique. Hairstyles for girls

The braid is a hairstyle for long haired girls. It is a weave of hair strands in a specific order. There are many different options for this hairstyle. They differ in weaving technique and the number of strands.

The weaving technique means not only the order of movement of the strands, but also the direction from which the braid is woven.

Braids for long hair, the weaving of which starts from the back of the head and is directed downward, are woven into a canopy. This is the easiest option, almost all braids are woven this way. More complex weaving starts from the forehead, goes down and weaves "over the head", picking up loose strands.

This is a sophisticated version of most "canopy braids". The most difficult weaving is a snake. It can start from the forehead or from the temple, but does not go down, but fits in a zigzag over the head or around the head. This variation requires some skill.

As for the order of weaving of the strands, there are 2 main options: standard and alternate. In the standard version, the hair is divided into a certain number of strands, and the first strand is braided over the 2nd, under the 3rd, over the 4th, under the 5th and so on until the end.

Similarly, the 2nd, 3rd and subsequent strands are braided. An example of a standard braid is a regular 3-strand braid. In alternate weaving, the entire hair mass is divided in half and thin strands are in turn thrown from one half to the other.

An example of such weaving is a fish tail.

Recently, new types of weaving have appeared - plait and twist. These are unusual braids: one is woven from 2 twisted plaits, and the other is created using elastic bands. All other braids are variations of the above braids.

They can be represented by a table:

Spikelet or fish tail

Braids for long hair, the weaving of which is reduced to alternately throwing strands from one half of the head to the other, is a fishtail and a spikelet. Initially, these were just different names for the same braid. But lately, they have become slightly different.

A fish tail is a braid that is woven over a canopy, and a spikelet is often called a braid that weaves from the forehead.

Weaving braids for long hair. Hairstyles for girls to school, Greek, voluminous, French braids

The simplest alternate weaving option is a fishtail.

The technique is as follows:

  1. The hair is divided into two equal halves.
  2. Each half is mentally divided into 5-8 strands, depending on the thickness of the hair: the thicker the hair, the more strand can be distinguished.
  3. The leftmost strand is thrown over the left haft and added to the right haft on the left.
  4. The rightmost strand is thrown over the left haft and added to the left haft on the right.
  5. Points 3 and 4 are repeated until the braid is completely braided.
  6. The end of the braid is secured with an elastic band.

To make this simple weaving look spectacular, some nuances must be taken into account. Firstly, it is especially important here to maintain a constant tension on the strands. If some bindings are tighter than others, then the pigtail will turn out to be lopsided. Secondly, the number of strands by which each shock must be divided is indicated conditionally.

Can be divided into smaller and larger sizes. But if the strand is small, then the weaving will become similar to the standard one. And if the strand is too much, then they will merge, and the braid will look like a solid monolith. All the beauty of weaving will be lost.

A spikelet is woven in a similar way:

  1. The hair is divided into a straight part.
  2. A strand at the left temple is selected and dragged by the parting to the right half of the hair.
  3. Similarly, the strand at the right temple is moved to the left.
  4. Such hyphenation is repeated alternately from left to right and from right to left.
  5. When the braiding has reached the back of the head, loose hair is braided into a fishtail.
  6. The end of the braid is secured with an elastic band.

If your hair is frizzy, the braid may look messy. In this case, it is better to use products that make the hair smooth. This is not a case where natural casualness will look cute and fashionable.

Spit "waterfall"

The romantic "Waterfall" hairstyle is loose hair beautifully scattered over the shoulders. In this case, the hair does not climb into the face, since it is woven into a thin braid, which, like a rim, holds them. To weave such a braid, apply a small amount of mousse or other styling product to your hair to make it easier to separate the strands.

Weaving braids for long hair. Hairstyles for girls to school, Greek, voluminous, French braids

Weaving technique is a variation of the standard one:

  1. At the right temple, 3 small strands are separated, and braiding begins according to the standard pattern.
  2. The first strand (the topmost one) is woven over the second and under the third, after which it is released from the braid.
  3. A new strand is separated from the hair from above. It is woven over the next and under the last, and is also released from the braid.
  4. Thus, the braid is woven around the head.
  5. When there is nowhere to take an additional strand, the braid from the remaining three strands is woven into the canopy and secured with an elastic band.
  6. If desired, the ends of the hair can be twisted slightly.

Waterfall is a versatile hairstyle. It looks good on any hair. Even thin hair in this hairstyle will look voluminous. The only ones for whom this hairstyle may not suit are very curly girls. It will be problematic to weave a waterfall on curly hair, and the weaving itself will be lost in curls.

French braid

Braids originating from the forehead are suitable for both long hair and a square. A classic of this kind of weaving is the French braid. It fits perfectly into any style, it can look both festive and casual. After some practice, you can get the hang of weaving it yourself.

The weaving technique is as follows:

  1. 3 small strands are taken near the forehead.
  2. They are intertwined 1 time according to the standard pattern.
  3. A small strand of hair from the total mass gets to the leftmost strand, and they are woven together over the middle strand.
  4. Before weaving the left strand under the right, a small strand from the total mass of hair gets on the right and combines with the far right strand.
  5. Repeating steps 3 and 4, the braid is woven all over the head.
  6. When all the hair is collected in a braid, it is braided like an ordinary three-strand braid to a canopy and secured with an elastic band.

How thick should the strands be added to the main weave? On average, they should be comparable to the first strands from which weaving began. The thinner the strands, the more effective the weaving will turn out. The thicker they are, the faster and easier it is to weave the braid.

Therefore, it is better for beginners to learn from large strands and gradually reduce them.

4-strand braid

A great way to diversify a classic canopy braid is to weave it from 4 strands.

The weaving technique will not change much from this:

  1. Weave the leftmost strand over the second, under the third and over the fourth.
  2. The second strand, which has now become the extreme left, weave over the third, under the fourth and over the first.
  3. Similarly, weave all the strands to the end of the braid.
  4. Secure the tip with an elastic band.

Such a pigtail is woven only for a canopy. If weave it from the forehead or in a zigzag, then it will turn out to be asymmetrical.

Openwork beauty

A braid for long hair, the weaving of which makes it look like lace, is an openwork braid. It has two varieties: an openwork braid based on a regular braid and a braid with additional elements. In the first version, openwork is created from a standard or four-strand braid, spikelet or fish tail.

The weaving technique is as follows:

  1. Any braid is braided, and not tightly braided.
  2. Each strand in the resulting braid is carefully pulled, straightened and sprayed with varnish for fixing.

If such a weaving is formed from a fish tail, then it can be weaved thinner, stretching the strands will add volume and shape. The second version of the openwork braid is obtained only with standard weaving. In order to make the braid openwork, it is necessary to weave freely, without tightening.

This is done according to the following scheme:

  1. Weave the first strand according to the standard pattern.
  2. After the end of the first weaving, separate a thin strand from the leading strand, which before the beginning of weaving, was on the left, and release it from the braid.
  3. Weave the next strand and, at the end of weaving, pick up the previously released strand.
  4. Weave the next strand again and release a piece from it.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until the braid is completely braided.
  6. Secure the end of the braid with an elastic band.
  7. Gently stretch out thin strands on the side of the braid, straighten them and secure with varnish.

If you want to add openwork not only on one side, but symmetrically, then weaving will become a little more complicated:

  1. The first strand is woven in the same way as in the previous version and a small part is released from it.
  2. A small lock of hair is released from the second strand before braiding begins.
  3. When the second strand is braided, she picks up the hair released from the first strand.
  4. The third strand, before braiding, picks up the hair released from the second strand, braids according to the standard pattern, and at the end of braiding it also releases a lock of hair.
  5. Points 2 - 4 are repeated until the end of weaving.
  6. The braid is tied with an elastic band.
  7. Thin strands are stretched, straightened and fixed with varnish.

The looser the braid is, the easier it will be to pull the strands. But free weaving can quickly get disheveled, so it is fixed with varnish. But still, an openwork braid is a festive option.

Options for trendy hairstyles with braids

You can't ruin a slanting hairstyle - fashion trends say. Indeed, this year you can make any hairstyle trendy by simply adding a braid to it. Loose hair will look more interesting if it is framed by a braid-waterfall. Or if a thin French or Danish braid is braided from one temple, the tip of which is hidden in the thick of hair.

A banal ponytail will look original if it ends with a French braid. And since last year's fashion for asymmetry has not gone away yet, this braid may not be in the center of the head, but along the right edge of hair growth, for example.

The French braid also goes well with the bun. It can be one braid in the center of the head, or on the side. Or maybe two pigtails that meet at the back of the head and form a bundle. A variant is possible when an ordinary bundle is braided with an oblique medium thickness or several turns of thin braids.

In this case, the ends of the braids are hidden under the bun.

Another trend this year is the Greek braid. This is a hairstyle for long and thick hair. She has several options. The classic version: a thin braid is woven from the side and fits within a centimeter from the hairline, like a bezel, the tip of the braid is hidden under the hair behind the ear, and an openwork braid is woven from the remaining hair.

Cheater's version: an openwork braid is simply woven, and a thin pigtail is replaced with a rim with an artificial braid in color.

Another option for such a braid is a high hairstyle in the Greek style. A thin braid is woven on one side, and a thick one on the other. They fit on the head: a thin pigtail is closer to the face, and behind it is a thick one. The most important thing about this hairstyle is negligence.

It should not lie hair to hair. A few strands may remain on the face. There is another way to add mystery and carelessness to the hairstyle - use different weaving for braids: a thin standard pigtail and a thick fishtail.

How to braid a braid with ribbons

There are two ways to weave a ribbon into a braid. One of them has been used by women in Russia from time immemorial. The ribbon was woven not from the beginning of the braid, but somewhere from the middle. For this, the tape was folded in half, passed from below under the oblique and the halves of the tape were attached to the extreme strands of the braid.

Then the braid was woven as usual, and at the end it was tied with the ends of the ribbon.

Now this method is also relevant. Moreover, unlike an elastic band, which can jump off the braid and fall, the woven tape will definitely not get lost. Therefore, this hairstyle is perfect for physical education. Similarly, kanekalon - colored threads - are woven into the hair. This is a solution for those who have short hair and want to wear a long braid.

The second method of weaving ribbons appeared relatively recently. It works well for bulky, decorative tapes. In this case, the tape is tied to a small strand of hair so that the attachment point in the hair is invisible. After that, all hair is divided into strands for braiding, while the ribbon is a separate strand.

Thus, the ribbon is woven into the braid, decorating it.

Danish braid

Braids for long hair, the weaving of which looks like a French turned inside out, are called Danish.

They are woven in the same way as the French ones - from the forehead, but according to a different pattern:

  1. 3 small strands stand out near the forehead.
  2. The first strand is woven under the second and above the third.
  3. Some hair is picked up to the second strand, and it is braided under the third.
  4. Before weaving the second strand over the first, grab some hair nearby for the first strand.
  5. Similarly, the third strand picks up additional hair, braids under the first strand and above the second, which also grabs adjacent hair with it.
  6. This is how the whole braid is woven.

The Danish braid turns out to be more convex than the French one. If it is woven in the middle of the head, then it resembles a small mohawk, and in the openwork version - a crown. Two such pigtails, coming from the forehead, look boldly and hooligan. They resemble small horns.

But you don't have to braid your Danish braid straight. In the process of weaving, you can lay it on your head in a zigzag, semicircle or spiral.

Braid twist or harness

When the original weaves first began to appear, confusion arose with the names. Twists were also called inverted weaving and flagellate. But now this name still remains for inverted weaving, and a braid of flagella is called either "bundle" or "rope".

Braid twist

It is difficult to call a twist braid at all a braid, because the weaving of strands as such is not there. This braid is created with elastic bands.

Weaving braids for long hair. Hairstyles for girls to school, Greek, voluminous, French braids

It is woven either from the back or from the side according to the following pattern:

  1. A loose tail is made and intercepted with an elastic band.
  2. The hair above the tail is divided in half, and the tail is pulled from front to back into the resulting hole.
  3. At a distance of 5 - 6 cm from the first elastic, the tail is intercepted by the second elastic.
  4. The hair above the elastic is split in half, and the entire remaining tail is pulled from front to back into the resulting hole.
  5. Similarly, the elastic bands are placed along the entire length of the tail, and the tail is twisted through each elastic band.
  6. When the braid is braided, the twisted strands need to be pulled out a little and tousled to give the hair volume.
  7. Spray the braid with nail polish to secure it.

Scythe harness

Another original weaving is a plait braid. It comes in two versions: a canopy harness or rope and a side harness from the forehead.

It seems that the rope canopy is woven easily, but there is a trick:

  1. Hair is collected in a ponytail.
  2. The tail is split in half.
  3. Both halves are twisted into bundles in a clockwise direction.
  4. The two bundles are twisted counterclockwise together.
  5. The tip is secured with an elastic band.

The twisting direction of the bundles is very important. If you twist them together in the same direction in which each would be twisted separately, then the braid will simply unravel. The second version of the tourniquet is not so casual and more romantic. It looks good on thick hair.

If your hair is not very thick, then you can create additional volume using styling products.

The braid is woven according to the following pattern:

  1. Separate two medium-sized strands near the forehead: the first in front of the second.
  2. The first strand is wound back, and the second is pulled under it.
  3. A section of loose hair is captured and attached to the first strand.
  4. The second strand is wound back, and the first is pulled under it.
  5. A piece of loose hair is attached to the second strand.
  6. Steps 2 - 5 are repeated until all hair is pulled back into a braid.
  7. The end of the braid is secured with an elastic band.

If your hair is very long, you can continue to weave a braid from the two resulting strands, simply twisting them together.

Five-strand braid

A 5-strand braid, like a four-strand braid, is a complication of standard weaving by increasing the number of strands:

  1. Hair is divided into 5 strands.
  2. The first strand is woven over the second, under the third, over the fourth and under the heel.
  3. The second strand is woven over the third, under the fourth, over the fifth and under the first.
  4. The whole braid is woven in the same way.

Weaving braids for long hair. Hairstyles for girls to school, Greek, voluminous, French braids

Since the number of strands is odd, the weaving of such a braid from the forehead will turn out to be symmetrical and very interesting. From 5 strands, you can weave both French and Danish braids. But this is difficult and requires skill.

Mermaid braid

A mermaid braid is an openwork version of a fish tail or spikelet.

To weave it, you need:

  1. Divide your hair in half.
  2. Divide each half into strands, there may be more than 8 of them if the hair is very thick, but it is better not to grind too much.
  3. A free fish tail is braided.
  4. Each strand from the braided braid is stretched slightly and straightened.
  5. The braid is fixed with varnish.

If a mermaid braid is woven on the basis of a spikelet, then the hair begins to climb away from the temples. For a mermaid braid, the strands may be slightly thinner than for a regular spikelet.

Braid "heart"

This romantic hairstyle will look good on blondes. But on dark hair, all the beauty of weaving will be lost.

Weaving braids for long hair. Hairstyles for girls to school, Greek, voluminous, French braids

The braid-heart is woven like this:

  1. The hair is divided into a straight part. One half is secured with an elastic band.
  2. In the second half, the hair is divided into a semicircular parting from the crown to the ear with a comb.
  3. A Danish braid is woven along the front of the semicircular parting. Hair is captured only from the front.
  4. Behind the ear, the braid turns, and the hair from the back does not begin to weave into.
  5. The braid is braided to a straight parting and fixed with an elastic band.
  6. A braid is also woven on the other half of the head.
  7. The braids join and continue to weave like a regular three-strand canopy braid.
  8. The tip is fixed with an elastic band.

To increase the volume, you can stretch the strands. The resulting braid can be left hanging free or twisted into a bun and secured with hairpins.

Snake braid for girls

Girls like the scythe snake very much. This hairstyle looks unusual and allows you to gather your hair without getting in the way. A snake is woven by analogy with the French and Danish braid, but it can also be obtained from a waterfall. A French or Danish snake weaves either from the forehead or from the temple.

Braids for long hair: weaving a French braid can be done in the form of a snake

But it drags not down, but to the side. When the braid reaches the other temple, it turns and braids in the opposite direction. Then she turns again until she has gathered all her hair. Then it is woven like an ordinary braid to a canopy. It can be made more voluminous if we weave loosely and then loosen the strands a little.

The snake-waterfall weaves like a regular waterfall, but when it reaches the end it turns and weaves in the opposite direction. In such a waterfall there can be only 1 zigzag, or 2 - 3. It is not recommended to drag the waterfall to the ends. It is better that at least another 7 cm of hair “flowed out” from under the last weave.

How to decorate a braid

How can you decorate a braid. The easiest option is to weave a ribbon or beads. Thin fishing line with rhinestones strung on it will look more elegant than beads. You can decorate the braid with flowers: live or artificial. This will make it look like a mermaid or nymph.

Kanekalon can be woven, but it makes the hairstyle heavier.

Danish or French braids can be decorated with original hairpins and hairpins. But the main decoration for a girl's braid is her long hair. Even if they are not very thick, you can always choose a weave that will visually increase the volume.
